A Different Perspective

As I was looking through my 2008 Halloween photos, I have to say that some of my favorites were the overhead costume shots. There is something about having a different perspective that catches your eye. So as you prepare for many Halloween photos- think of looking above, getting down low, or catching some little detail that you won't want to forget for years to come.

I also try to make a habit of every holiday, getting a photo with me and the kids together. So often I am the one taking the pictures, so this forces me to get in front of the camera every few months.

Idea for Spooky Sussies...

So maybe you've been eyeing the Spooky Sussies kit... And maybe you've been wondering what you would do with all of those journaling sheets that come with it.

Well. I was wondering the same thing when I was putting the kits together. I knew there was no way that anyone would be able to use them all on layouts. You'd get so tired of them!

Here's a great idea for those of you who purchase that kit between now and October 1st (so it arrives with your October kit). Use them as sweet little holiday notes in your children's / spouses / significant other's lunches!! Be creative! Plan a festive Halloween evening and then have the note at their breakfast table, telling them about it - giving them something to look forward to that evening or weekend. Do you have a cool pumpkin patch to visit? Or a corn maze? Or maybe for the night you all are going to carve pumpkins!

What are some other ideas you guys have for these? (I know you have them! I know you all are creative!! Let's hear those thoughts!)

Add-Ons, Extras, and Special Edition Kits...

Hop to it everyone!! The add-ons, extras, and special edition kits just went up for sale!

There are tons of extras up for sale this month!!! And, while the add-ons are most likely sold out, some of the add-on items are available for sale in the extras! For this month, we also have two special edition kits - Spooky Sussies & Summer Sussies.

Summer Sussies is perfect for those beach vacations! It has Kaisercraft's Offshore line and fun embellis from them as well. Have you seen their packaging??? Once you use the embellishments, the packaging can be used as little storage bags!! SO COOL!

And Spooky Sussies is always a a hit! This bag will most likely have some extra little Halloween goodies thrown in. (Think Candy!) Pink Paislee's Twilight line could not be denied! You'll have a full set of each embellishment pack for those Halloween layouts, cards, and crafts!!

Head on over to the Add-Ons page now! (And don't forget, Year of the Sussie members, you have the rest of this month to use your $15 coupon!

Another use for scrappy supplies!

I LOVE when I find a way to pare down my out-of-control scrappy stash and actually get to put it to good use! I had an 'AHA!' moment when I was looking for a card matching game for my 4 year old at the mall. It seemed to me that this is a pretty a basic concept game- pictures on cardstock. So I came home and got to work (BTW, I used the September Sussies kit for this project).

I gathered the supplies you see below:
1-12x12" solid cardstock
1-12x12" patterned paper (since this is a matching game, you will want to stick to a pattern with a fairly similar design throughout)
1 12x12" sheet white cardstock (for stamping on)
Assorted small stamps (a font stamp is optional-if you want to label the images)
Ink (& markers-optional)
A good adhesive product (I used a Xyron to make sure this stays 'stuck' as the cards will be handled ALOT)

I next cut 40 cards, in 20 in each set-2 sizes.

Then I got busy stamping-this was the fun part. I used Stazon, as I find this always gives me a nice, crisp image. Don't worry about getting things 'too' straight or perfect. This is meant to be fun and chances are the recipient won't even notice.

If you don't have access to a laminator, you can get clear, adhesive book covers this time of year (I got mine at the local $1 store.) It's a bit more work since you have to trim the excess off but I wanted to make sure I protected all my hard work.

Here is a shot of all the images I used for my card set.

I hope this inspires you to try something different with your scrappy supplies!
Thanks for stopping by!
Have a great scrappy week!

October Sneak Peek...

Hello everyone! I've been a little MIA and the poor blog tends to get pushed to the bottom of my to do list. BAD LARA! But thanks to my gals who have been keeping it up and giving you all some fun things to think about!!!

I've been working with the October kits and thought I would share a sneak peek of them with you today! The lines in this kit are American Crafts Haunted and Bella Blvd Camped Out. These are great for the upcoming Halloween pics and also for some summer trips you might have made!

Before I share the pics, I want to remind you to get those referrals in!! Get all those scrapping friends of yours to try out Sussies for just a few months! Remember, for each kit that you purchase in the months of October through December, you'll get an entry for that great prize. But for every kit that your referrals purchase, you'll get ANOTHER ENTRY into the drawing. So your chances of winning get better and better, depending on how many kits your friends buy! (And they'll be getting entries, too!)

OK - here's the Sneak Peeks of October...

There will also be a couple of Special Edition Sussies kits up and LOTS OF EXTRAS to buy this month! All of those will be available on September 15th!!!!

TIME TO JOIN! (AND BRING YOUR FRIENDS!!)

Remember how the 2009 Year of the Sussie started? How you had to be a member since January to partake?? Well, I can't stand it anymore and I had to come up with a new twist that allowed me to include EVERYONE!!

So... for the final quarter of 2009, beginning with the OCTOBER kit, a special deal is in place!! For every monthly kit that you get in the last quarter of 2009, your name will be entered into a special drawing. Even if you haven't been a subscriber since January! So you can get as many as three entries if you get all three kits! (You do the math!)

WAIT! There's more!! MORE?? How can there be more???

For every kit that someone you REFER to Scrapbook Sussies gets in the last quarter of 2009, you get your name entered into the drawing along with them getting their name entered! All you have to do is have them enter your name in the Comments/Special Delivery Instructions section of the shopping cart! So - refer 4 people, they all get all three kits, you get your name entered 12 more times! (Again with the math comment!)

Now, obviously, I have to make this thing worth your while, right???

So... the prize for this fantastic drawing is well over $200!!!

A HUGE PACKAGE OF FLOWERS FROM PRIMA (Worth over $150 alone)!!!
SEI Moravia Assortment Pack
One sheet of each paper in the SEI Winter Song Line
One sheet of each paper in the SEI Christmas Mint Line
One Making Memories Slice Apron
One SEI Moravia T-Shirt

Pretty great, eh??? So if you haven't tried Sussies or you haven't recently, at least get yourself signed up - because space is becoming very limited! Then go get your friends!!!

(And now, with space filling up, it's the perfect time to get on board because the 2010 YEAR OF THE SUSSIE is going to be even better than 2009!!!)

Using Those Kits

So are you making the most of those Sussie kits? Usually when I finish the pages I do for the Sussie site, I leave each month's leftovers in it's own bag for the month. Occasionally I'll grab a month's bag and make a card. But all those leftovers need to be put to better use. So I decided to combine and organize. I broke all my past kits up and seperated them into several catergories. I now have a cardstock bag, a Sussies patterned paper bag, and several embellishment bags. This will help me mix and match all that product that is packed in our kits!

Here is a page I did last night.
These pics are of my nephew Wyatt. I have two girls, so scrapping a boy page was a nice change of pace. I used patterned paper from the Jan and Feb 09 kits and embellishments from the May and July 09 kits. Don't let those supplies just sit around! :)
