Sneak Peek!

What an awesome kit Lara has put together for February!  I've had a chance to play with the goodies the past couple of weeks, and the possibilities are endless!  I have 2 little girls, and have had no problems finding pictures to use with the "boy" side of the kit.

Here are two peeks for you:
Also, be sure to check out the new goodies she has ordered for this coming year's kits!  Get on board now to reserve your spot!

I'm back!!! Whew! CHA was a whirlwind. Here's how it all came down. I usually get all my catalogs on Day One. Then, I stay up until the wee hours of the morning figuring kits.

Then, on Day Two I place my orders.

Doing that usually takes until about 2:00 p.m. and then I have time to play.

This time, my plan was to take my time and then bring the rental car back on the evening of Day Two, stay in a hotel airport that night, and come home in the morning. I didn't want to feel rushed.

So, about a week before I was supposed to leave, I got a call from Frontier saying that my flight had been changed to an hour later. Well, that was no good because I would then miss the SEI preview party! So I had them change it so I got in around 3:00 on Saturday. Originally, I was to land around 5:00. Well, since I was getting my rental car 3 hours earlier than planned, I had to turn it in 3 hours earlier. Which meant, I had to be back at LAX on Day Two of the show by 3:00!!!

So, there I was rushed anyway. Instead of paying for a 3rd day of the rental car, I checked my airline and caught a 7:00 pm flight home! It all went quite smoothly and I am now glad I am done.

Anyway, it was lots of fun and lots of good things are on order for Sussies!

After reading this list of upcoming lines (ALSO LISTED ON THE SUSSIES SNEAK PEEK PAGE), go ahead and grab a subscription spot. There are a handful available and I'm still letting people purchase a past kit to count as their January kit to be in the YEAR OF THE SUSSIE 2010!!!

Sketchy Friday

I have a confession to make. I almost completely forgot about doing my post today. In fact, I was on my way to bed when I remembered!
What I had planned for today was some sketch inspiration. Every month, along with your kits you get a monthly sketch. I actually hadn't used any of these in the last few months, so I pulled them out and put one to use!

For this layout, I used the December 2009 sketch which was designed by our very own Cindy Stevens. (Insert pic of sketch here.. I don't have a digital copy of the sketch, so I need to take a picture of it.. since it's almost midnight.. I'm doing the post now and will add the sketch here tomorrow.. so check back!)

And here's what I created:
Supplies used are from past Sussie Kits.
So next time you need some quick inspiration, check those Sussie Kit contents pages that come with your kit! There's one on the back of every page!

The Little Things

I am enjoying an unusually cloudy and rainy day here in Phoenix. I even pretended that it was cold and made up some hot chocolate:)
One of my goals for this year is to really try to tell the story of my family through my scrapbooking and photo taking. A lot of the time you won't have the optimal conditions to get that perfect photo. I will give the below example of my daughter. She just loves to play in my bathroom sink- turning the water off and on, and just making one big wet mess! My bathroom isn't really the most clutter free, beautifully lit bathroom. But, because it is a moment that I really want to scrapbook, I am going to work around those issues!

Here is the before: there is some yellow/orange lighting going on, and a lot of the bathroom items are distracting from the main focus of the photo.

By changing this picture over to a black and white, I am able to take away many of the not so pretty elements of the first photo. Another advantage of converting to black and white, is that it opens up the possibilities of using lots of different patterned papers and embellishments on the layout and still not take away from the photo.

So as you approach the coming year, think of the day to day occurrences that you would like to document, and know they will be picture perfect!

Good Friday Morning!

Well, it's still morning here anyways! I just realized today that I owe you a blog post for January. Did you love the sneak peaks Lara gave you of the February kit? I can't wait to get it and start working with it. But, alas, since I haven't received it yet, I can't show you what I've done with it!

But I can show you some layouts we did with the January kit. Most of you should have received yours by now and have started digging into it! So here's some inspiration straight out of the Sussies Gallery:

I just love this page by Lisa! I'm so not used to designing boy pages and this looked so fun to me!

And another new Sussies designer, Taryn, did this fun layout, also using the boy side of the kit. I love all her details:

And how can you not love the layering Cindy did here:

And Val's fun chalkboard! (Check out the gallery, she made a girl one too!):

And Leah was busy with a bunch of fussy cutting and all these details!

And then there was me. Who had no boy pictures of my own. So I borrowed some from my sister-in-law (thanks Kim!) and created this fun boy layout!

I hope you gathered some fun inspiration here (there's more in the gallery!) and link us up to your boy pages from the kit! We'd love to see them!
