Simple Cards

Hey there! It feels like it's been a long time since I've blogged here! I so wanted to show you a layout from the December kit (it's AWESOME by the way) but since we were in Texas all last week for Thanksgiving I just haven't had a chance to do much with it yet. It's cold and windy outside (like 34 degrees and the wind is horrid!) so I'm hoping to scrap tonight!

I did have a chance to make a couple of {simple} cards using the November kit though! I thought I'd share these and show you that, if you are like me and don't do well at making cards, simple still works!

For the first card, I accidentally used the cutting blade on my cutterpede instead of the scoring tool but managed to fix it with an overlapping piece of paper!

And I just really wanted to use that cute squirrel rub-on and stickers!

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving and have at least some of your Christmas shopping finished!

Thanksgiving is almost here!!!

As I get older, and the importance of gifts at Christmas lessens, I think I appreciate Thanksgiving more and more. The stress of gift-giving does not exist, but the family aspect becomes the focus...and I think I look forward to Thanksgiving more than Christmas now.

One thing I love about Thanksgiving is getting together with the extended family. When all of us are present, there are 25 of us. One great way to use the scrapbooking kits is to create festive name tags for that  looooooong table of family members. I took Telah's challenge for place cards and I love my finished product.  Check out the name tags I created using the November Sussie kit for this year's meal (love that Bella Blvd paper)!!!

I handcut leaves from the patterned paper and adhered them with dimensional pop-dots. The matching Bella Blvd alpha stickers went perfectly with the paper. I used the October Afternoon blog as inspiration for the name tags...pretty simple but I love the way they turned out!!!

See Spot

Hello there! I wanted to share a layout created from the November kit that wasn't a specific fall layout. I love the versatility of the Scrapbook Sussies kits! Dante had to take care of a stuffed dog for a week, it was so cute...Except that we lost him a few days before he had to be returned. Luckily he was found just in time!

I ran across this fun Thanksgiving place card on the Bella Blvd Blog and thought about how fun this would be to make. I haven't had time yet, but would like to do this with some of the great Bella papers in the November Sussies Kit. So how about a quick Challenge for us all? Create some sort of Thanksgiving place card, either for your guests, your food, or whatever you choose and link it back up here. You have until Friday, November 26th at midnight to get yours linked. I will randomly choose a winner from all who complete this challenge. The winner will receive a December Embellishment Add On from me!

Our Kit Sketches

Every Month, on the back of the product list in your Sussie Kit, there is always a sketch. Do you make use of these? I am a big fan of sketches! It's nice to have this little bit of inspiration in the kits.

Here's what the team did with November's Sketch.

Telah:

Don't you love how everyone's layout looks so different, yet the same? That's the great thing about sketches. You an go so many different directions with them!

Turkey Time

I have boxes and boxes of artwork from my children. Why not incorporate some of them into layouts? I adored the fall feel of the November kit, and really enjoyed adding a turkey hand print to this layout. Have a wonderful weekend!

December Sneak Peek!!

Hello everyone! It's getting close to that time of year! There's a lot of things going on right now that are crazy to me! One - it hasn't snowed here in Colorado yet! CRAZY! Two - I haven't finished my Christmas shopping yet and have actually hardly begun! EVEN CRAZIER!! LOL!

But, I did have time to get the December Sneak Peeks together... December is always a FABULOUS kit. This month, we'll be featuring American Crafts Dear Lizzy Christmas and Crate Paper Snow Day. The paper on both of these is so thick and lush...

December is a GREAT time to join Scrapbook Sussies. The Year of the Sussie 2011 is just around the corner. I'm working on the details of that and will be getting them out to you all soon! Last year, loyal subscribers received over $135 in FREE PRODUCT just for buying Scrapbook Sussies kits - which are discounted themselves anyway! ($36 kit for $29.95) Next year, I'm trying to make it even better!!!

Before the pics, hurry over to our Facebook page. Like us there and then suggest us to all your Facebook friends! Have them come on over to the Facebook page, like us, and have them post who sent them there (YOU!). The person sending the most people over will win a Scrapbook Sussies kit!!

Finally, as promised, take a peek at the December kit....

Happy Friday!

What a beautiful sunny day here in Colorado. Hard to believe that it's time to change the clocks this weekend! We have a busy weekend planned, how about you? Are you starting to think about planning your Thanksgiving? And I'm sure you have all your Christmas presents planned, right? (I only mention Christmas because, well, it's around the corner! and Lara just sent an email that the December DT kits were going out tomorrow!!)...

Anyways, back to the November kit. How fun was that to work with? I'm still working on at least one, if not two more layouts with the kit.

Here's one of the layouts I did with the Imaginesce part of the kit. I loved the layout but couldn't figure out how to add a pocket for the corn maze map without covering up anything - and then I thought maybe it would fit on the side! It was the first time we'd actually gone through a corn maze with the purpose of getting at least some of the hole punches!

I hope you have a fun weekend planned! Be sure to check out the gallery to see the wonderfully inspiring cards and layouts the rest of the design team created!

Details, Details, Details

You've heard the saying, "It's all about the details." Well that is so true with scrapbooking too! And we add the details to our layouts through embellishments. One of the reasons that Scrapbook Sussies is the best kit club around it because of the fantastic embellishments you get with the kit and the embellishment add on. And this month is no exception! When I took pictures of my November Kit layouts, I took some close ups of all the little fun embellies and now I'll share those with you.

This little guy was on one of the Bella Blvd One Fall Day journaling cards. I cut him out and stuck him onto white cardstock, then cut him out again. I used foam squares to make him pop off the page.

I put the clear sticker title from Apple Cider Give Thanks stickers onto white paper and cut around it.
Here's a little mix of Crate Paper Chipboard and Basic Grey woolies, both from the Embellishment Add On.
More chipboard clustered together.
Here I tried a new technique for me by using my Martha Stewart fringe scissors and cutting the end of one strip of the two-sided paper from Imaginisce. Then I curled up a few of the fringes for dimension. I also added another woolie.
Another fun cluster here. I took one of the Bella Blvd. stickers and put it on the background packaging that the Imaginisce Rub Ons came with and then cut it out. Again I used foam squares for dimension. Here's another fun tip: I couldn't find my brown thread so I used white to stitch around the circle, then went over it with a brown pen!

These clouds were cut from the Bella Blvd. paper then added with foam squares.
I love to mix chipboard with rub-ons, as you can see in the next three pics.

The Month of Thanks

Hello Everyone! I hope your November is off to a great start!
I have been working on my November pages today, (hello last minute!!) and so I have a page to share. "A Thing Called Family"

Journaling: These four people are my world! I thank God everyday for my family. I didn't know my heart was capable of loving so much!

This kit is a classic for November. It it great for all things Fall and all things Thanksgiving!
The rest of my pages will be in the Gallery in the next couple of days, and make sure you check out what the rest of the team has done.
What are you thankful for today?
