Spread the Love!

Welcome to the Sussies Spread the Love Blog Challenge!!! We’re looking forward to a fun September month! We hope you are, too! Keep an eye on the blog! We’re going to have challenges throughout the month worth points! The more you participate, the more points you get! The more points you have, the better!

There will be several ways to win….
• The person with the most points will win a fantabulous prize - a three month subscription to Scrapbook Sussies!!!! WOO HOO!!!!
• We know it’s hard to always stay in first place, so we don’t want you to be discouraged!! So… anyone with at least 100 points will be entered into a drawing to win an equally fantabulous prize – a three month subscription to Scrapbook Sussies!!!!
• Anyone with at least 100 points will receive a coupon good for 50% off one item on the Scrapbook Sussies website!!! HOW COOL IS THAT???

Let’s get the first things (and easiest ways to win points) out of the way first… Once you have all of these completed (or as many as you are going to have completed), email me at lmcclendon@scrapbooksussies.com and let me know! Give me as much detail as you can, including any links to websites / blogs / galleries so I can keep track of your points! Some of these you may already have done, some may be brand new…
• Post our badge on your blog
• Post a blinkie in your signature on a message board
• Like Scrapbook Sussies or become a friend of Sussies on Facebook
• Post on your blog about Scrapbook Sussies - send me a link to see!
• Email some of your scrappy friends a quick email telling them how great our Sussies kits are!!! Please cc me at lmcclendon@scrapbooksussies so I can check this off your list and give you points!!!
• Be a follower on the Scrapbook Sussies blog!
• Sign up for a username in the Sussies Gallery! (If you’ve already done this, that counts… no need for two usernames!)

OK – those are the quick and easy Spread the Love items. Each one is worth five points – you’re already 35 points on your way to the 100 if you do all of them! (Future items will be worth more than just five points!)
Watch the blog for more challenges and ways to earn more points!

I know some of you might wonder if you have to use a Sussies kit for the scrappy challenges that will be coming up. The answer is no, but, if you do use a Sussies kit, you will earn more points than those not using a Sussies kit. Don’t have a Sussies kit? NO WORRIES!!! You have a one-time opportunity to purchase ONE Sussies past kit to use in these challenges for the amazing low price of just $25.00!!! That’s a $36.00 kit for just $25.00. Happy Monday!

Hope everyone had an awesome weekend! The weather is still hot here but soccer season started up this last weekend and I ran my first 5K! I ran with a friend and my daughter (who did beat me!). It was a lot of fun!

I did another layout using this months sketch (see, I actually screwed up last month and used this months sketch!). But it was such a fun sketch I did another layout using it - isn't it fun to see how different pages look using the same inspiration!

Now, show us what you did/are doing with this month's sketch!

Hello everyone! I wanted to share a few sneaks from the September kit. A Look Forwards and Backwards!

The second Monday where the kids are away at school. I'm getting used to the quiet but I really need to organize my days better! Today I've been scrapping a little and cleaning (very little) and laundry (I put a load in)... It's almost lunchtime and I really have very little to show!

So I thought I'd share one more layout from the August kit and then a sneak from one layout I've finished from the September kit!

I've had these pictures for awhile and love them - sadly the best group shot I got of the girls is grungy looking and not my favorite so I had to pick anothe picture. But now that I have it figured out I can scrap the pics for the other girls too! I love Sadie's close-up photo!

And here is a sneak of what I've been working on with the September kit!

How fun is that! You will love this September kit :)

And Lara has something fun in the works! Be sure to check the blog out on August 31 for some information on a great new Sussies Challenge!!

the subtle side of summer

most of my pictures from the summer are bright and fun and bold, but sometimes i take some soft subtle pictures, too..... i am always looking for a kit that can scrap all sorts of my memories and not just pictures from one group or kind of pictures... that is something i really loved about this month's Sussies kit~ it was full of those bold and bright embellies and prints for my beach pics and still had a softer side to create a page like this....

i love how this page captured a feeling of peace and calm and the beauty of my girl's sunkissed face in the summer :) when i saw the pretty floral paper i knew that would be my starting point to create this page. i used some mist to even tone down the cardstock a bit more and finished my page off with many of the little chipboard pieces that came in the kit~ LOVE chipboard for simple touches that pop :)

thanks for stopping by~

For those of you perusing the website on the 15th each month (the day the full reveal and add-ons go up), you've already seen this. I was supposed to post on the blog on the 17th, but it is the first week of school. Who Wants a Sneak?

August is over half way over and then September will be here! Have you seen the full reveal of the September Kit? It's filled with some great product that will help you finish up scrapping your summer photos that you still have left and maybe even get you feeling like Fall is right around the corner. Here are a few sneak peeks of a couple layouts I have done using the September kit.

FYI, one of our Design Team members is at the hospital this morning giving birth to her third child, first son! I'm sure you will be hearing more about Leah Wright and the arrival of her son later. Congrats Leah!

Just a Quickie!

Sadly I will never ever be known for my cardmaking skills, but I just really hate to see {cute} paper go to waste! So I thought I'd show you two really simple cards that you can make (and dress up!) from the August kit!

For the first card, I couldn't resist using the flowers on the WR Memory Keepers paper!

For the next card I had all sorts of wonderful plans... chipboard and stickers and so much fun! But apparently my children decided I was finished using the embellies and used them on some, ahem, artwork :) So I decided to make a photo postcard!

Are you back to school yet? We're slowly adjusting to a new school and new routine. I sure miss not having to get up in the mornings! But I'm looking forward to some scrap time!!

Summer Tags

I wanted to share some gift tags that I made for an upcoming summer themed bunco party! All the supplies (except shipping tags- which you can get at an office supply store) are from the August kit. I decided to use a couple of my Quickutz dies to cut out various flowers and butterflies. An easy trick to add dimension to your crafts is to cut double of your shape and stack them on top of one anther. This also works well for punches. Have a wonderful rest of the week :)

September Sneak Peek

Whew! It's been a whirlwind couple of weeks. I was in Chicago at CHA at the end of July - only to come back to rush to get the August kits put together and shipped out. (Normally, I'm more ahead of the game and have the kits prepared, but this summer has been a 'do-everything-at-the-last-minute' kind of summer!) After the kits were shipped, I headed up to Beaver Creek, Colorado for a few days, came home for one day, and turned around and headed up to Winter Park, Colorado for another few days. Believe me, I am not complaining - it's been a wonderful summer, but I'm looking forward to some routine. Kids go back to school (including my youngest - YIKES) next week...

I have put up on the Sneak Peek page the list of upcoming lines that I purchased at CHA! Make sure to visit the website to see what will be in upcoming Sussies kits!

Now is the time to get on board! While there is a no-commitment rule at Sussies (you can skip months or cancel at any time), I definitely like to reward those loyal customers who don't skip and get month after month of yummy kits. Thus, the Year of the Sussie was born. If you want to get on board and start a sub with the July kit (you would get July and August shipped together) and stay through December, Scrapbook Sussies will give you the January 2011 kit for free!! Think of it as a Mini-Year-of-the-Sussies special. Just put 'Year-End Year of the Sussies' in the notes section when you sign up for your sub. Also, after you sign up, I'll send you an email with a very cool offer that will reward you immediately! (Little Sussies Surprise!!!)

You already know what the July and August kits look like - here's a peek at the September kit! It will feature Fancy Pants Rusted Summer and Kaisercraft Peachy Keen...

I hope you all are enjoying the summer, too!!!
Keep your eyes peeled and locked on the blog for another upcoming fun contest...

The Banner Bandwagon

So have you noticed that banners are all the rage right now?
If you've been keeping up with the blog, you even noticed that the sketch challenge we posted at the end of July, contained a banner. And Valerie and Jennifer did some fun things with it! We'd still love to see what you can do with the sketch, so if you haven't seen it, scroll down a few posts and check it out.

We've been sharing a lot of our August pages here on the blog, so I'm going to follow suit and show you the page I did, that includes....

A Banner!
Here is the page I created.
This was a really simple banner to create. This month's kit has lots of bling and those cute little blue glitter flowers with the jewels. I simply cut out some triangles from one of the patterned papers and "linked" them together with those small bling flowers.
If you haven't checked out this month's Gallery, be sure to head over there. There's lots more than what we've shared here. And we'd love to see your stuff too, so upload and show us what you've been up to!
Happy Crafting!

My Friday Five

I was trying to come up with a snazzy name for the post and "Friday Five" was all I could do! We just got back from vacation today - just a short trip to Mt. Princeton Hot Springs. I was disappointed because the hot springs were flooded and cold! Not what I was looking forward to!

So since I titled this My Friday Five I guess I should post something about 5 things. School starts next week so maybe I can share 5 things I'm looking forward to about that!

1. No more "I'm bored" from my girls.
2. Quiet time that is actually quiet!
3. No more constant bickering about who's turn it is to play with the Wii or computer.
4. Rooms that are cleaned may actually stay clean for some period of time.
And, most important (or fun!)
5. Time to scrap during the day!

What about you? What do you look forward to when the kids start back to school?

Have you visited the gallery since August 1? I know a lot of the designers have shown you some of their layouts here but the gallery is FULL of all of the layout! I thought I'd show you a layout I did with the Bella Boulevard side of the kit:

Also wanted to let you know that Scrapbook Sussies is now on Facebook! I'm not a big facebook person but I'd love it if you could become a fan!!

72 & Sunny

I thought I'd feature the We R Memory Keepers' 72 & Sunny side of the August Sussies kit. I love the color combination of these papers. They work perfect for most any summertime activites that you want to scrapbook. In both of these layouts, I used pictures from random moments caught outside this summer.

How many layouts does it take to get to the end of the kit????

THAT'S the question! I cannot believe how many layouts I've created with the August Sussies kit...and I STILL have stuff leftover! Take a look at all my layouts using Bella Blvd. and 72&Sunny. See if you can spot the one I created using the August Sketch...

July Sketch, take 2

I just wanted to post my take on Kristine's sketch too! I was running late with my parents in town but I really wanted to get it done. It's actually the second page of a double-pager. But I needed space for more pictures! So here was my take on the sketch:

The pennants actually stand out a bit more IRL as I inked them with distress ink.

Looking forward to seeing YOUR take on the sketch!!
