I absolutely loved the May kit, and wanted to share a few sneak peeks for it. Yay for May!

A Few Diecuts!
Are you one of those scrappers that has tons of Diecuts sitting around? Maybe you only used 1 from an entire sheet or package? Have you even felt stuck with matching papers, or what to cut and what to keep?
I absolutely fell in love with the My Little ShoeBox Diecuts that were in our Sussies Kits this month. I didn't want to put them aside after using a few on a previous layout, So I decided to Create a Layout based on Diecuts ONLY! Yes, I didn't use any pattern papers, only the diecuts that came with my kit. Give it a try!

Spring is finally here!
After a weekend of 8 to 16 inches of threatening snow (we got NONE, only rain and some sleet, much to the dismay of my children!), we hit over 70 degrees today with bright fun sunshine! It was such a wonderful day to be outside enjoying the beginning of the spring! I hope you had an awesome day too!
Did you see the full reveal for the May kit?? For a larger picture, check here.
So I thought in addition to showing the May kit reveal and a peak at a layout I am working on, I'd have a little contest for a RAK!! You remember when we added the blog, we also added a Scrapbook Sussies Photo Gallery. Well, its getting a little bit lonely with just the Design Team layouts! So I thought I'd offer a little RAK for those of you who post a layout made with a recent Sussies kit!
Here's the RAK (sorry for the poor picture!) that some lucky Sussies scrapper will win!
RAK Details: If you post one layout in the member gallery, you'll receive one entry. If you post 3 you'll receive 2 entries, 6 will receive 3 etcetera. As long as your layout(s) are uploaded by April 30, 2009 they will count! I'll post a winner the first week of May!
I hope you'll be visiting the gallery for your chance to win!

I have a few things to share with you today! First, I started working with the May kit - and I think those of you with BOYS will be in heaven with the Pink Paisley side. They are not the easiest colors for me to work with (3 girls) however, I had a field trip with my daughter recently and I think the colors are perfect for it! Here's a little peak of my layout! I am finding my pleats are not staying attached so I may have to sew it before all is said and done.

Paper Flower Tutorial
I save every little bit of scrap paper and love to use them on various projects. Here is a fun tutorial on how to make some 3 dimensional flowers. I will show you what the template looks like down below. Just hand draw the petals and a small rectangle on any type of paper. Don't worry about them looking exact, they will look great! Then cut the pieces out for your template. Make any size flower you please.
Trace your petals on patterned paper. Then cut them out. I used 4 small and 5 large petals. Cut out the square for inner fringe. cut small fringe cuts 3/4 of the way down.
I used a glue gun to adhere the pieces together. Be careful if you are using that hot glue (we don't want any burnt fingers!) Use any adhesive that will work for you. It doesn't have to look pretty sine everything will be covered with floral tape in the end. Roll the fringe tightly around the floral wire.I put my glue on while the fringe piece was lying flat beforehand.
Now add the small petals by gluing each on to the bottom of the fringe layer. Do the same for the large petals.
The key to your floral tape success is to wrap as tight as you can! I cut off about a yard at a time so I could easily work with it. Make sure to overlap the tape so it will stick to itself.
Now you have a nice flower to decorate a package, your room, or even yourself!

What photos will you be taking?
For all those of you who celebrate Easter, it's just around the corner, isn't it? And for all of us, we're finally getting into spring. (Those of you who live in a place like Texas, where I am, have already begun moving into summer, but who's keeping track of technicalities?)
So with this festive weekend ahead, many of us will have extra-special photo ops. I know I've found it useful in years past to take a few minutes to think about some of the photos I don't want to miss. After all, in the hubbub and excitement that come from extra people around, big family meals, and jellybean-induced sugar rushes, a little planning can be really useful!
Why not take a couple of minutes to think about it? Here are some of the ideas I've had...

After all, in the hubbub and excitement that come from extra people around, big family meals, and jellybean-induced sugar rushes, a little planning can be really useful!
Why not take a couple of minutes to think about it? Here are some of the ideas I've had...
- making and dyeing Easter eggs
- closeup of my 3 year old daughter's hands afterwards, because I know what they'll look like
- a pretty shot showing all the eggs and maybe some closeups if any are really pretty
- a nice pre-church shot of all the family in Easter finery - we always seem to miss getting these for some reason, and we'll have 4 generations together!
- some shots of my own little family since we rarely have anyone else around to take the pics
- hunting for Easter eggs, of course
- seeing how my baby boy reacts to the various goodies and people
- my daughter and her great-grandma sharing their basket like they always do
- getting ready for Easter dinner
- the cleanup!
Don't forget to get photos of special family traditions, or of special moments that may differentiate *this* year from other years. Is there a new family member, or are you celebrating in a new place? What will help to set this year apart for you?
And whatever you do, always remember that you have to live the memories before you can scrap them!

April Sussies is UP!!
Hello all!
Today is April 1st. I thought about trying to play a trick on everyone since it is April Fools Day, but instead of being mean, I thought it would be much nicer if I told everyone who commented on this post that you will get a free Scrapbook Sussies kit sent directly to you!! Excited?!?!
Well, don't be! Because - APRIL FOOL'S!!! (HA HA HA) Ok - I realize that was weak, but I'll try harder next time!
The April Kit is now up on the site. I have some April kits left, so now is your big chance to sign up! Beginning with the May kit, all product is going to be BRAND NEW CHA PRODUCT!!!
Remember, in this hard economic time, the kits you get when you subscribe cost you only $29.95, but have a retail value of over $36.00!! That's a nearly 20% discount just for being a member. I doubt you'll find a lot of stores automatically giving you 20% off all the time! And the extras are always marked down! So, get on over to the website, www.scrapbooksussies.com , and check it out! We do have subscription spots available!
While you're here, though, I'll give you a look at the April kit! It's a really pretty one. The paper lines this month are WRMK Nonsense & Glitz Gigi. This one happens to have embellishments that go with both 'sides' of the kit - so feel free to mix and match!
Here are photos of the two sides individually. Remember, Sussies kits are like a 2-for-1 deal. With every kit, you get two paper lines and embellishments and cardstocks to coordinate with the paper lines. The lines, while they sometimes do, are not intended to match.
If you thought I forgot the drawing, never fear! I drew a number today out of a hat and matched it to that comment. The 8th comment was picked so the winner of the fun prize is Jenny B in Indy! You'll be getting one of the Star Spangled Sussies Kits! Just for checking in and leaving a comment!Jenny - Email me your address and I'll get a goody out to you! You can email to info@scrapbooksussies.com.
For everyone else, keep checking the blog for more fun challenges, drawings, info, and sneak peeks! All the gals on the Design Team will be posting, too! So check back often! And, as always, Happy Scrapping!
